10 Tax Facts for Tax Day Tea Parties #1. Under the Obama budget, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that the national debt will double over the next 5 years; and it will triple over the next 10 years to $17.3 trillion. #2. Under the Obama budget, CBO projects that the national debt will soar over the next 10 years from 40% of GDP today to a shocking 82.4%. (Ronald Reagan left office with the national debt at 42% of GDP). #3. The president’s budget also states that total federal borrowing will grow by $2.7 trillion this year alone, an increase of 27% in 1 year! #4. The budget Obama proposes for this year increases federal spending by an incredible 34% over the previous year, with a total of $4 trillion in federal spending, the highest ever. #5. The federal budget deficit (not the national debt) would reach $1.845 trillion this year, according to the CBO, the highest ever. That would be more than 7 times Reagan’s largest budget deficit of $221 billion, which caused so much consternation among Reagan’s critics. #6. The CBO estimates that this Obama budget deficit will total an astounding 13.1% of GDP, more than one-eighth of the entire U.S. economy, for the federal budget deficit alone! Under George Bush, the federal deficit for 2008 was 3.2% of GDP. The deficit for fiscal year 2007, in the last budget adopted when Congress was controlled by Republican majorities, was $162 billion, or 1.2% of GDP. #7. The Obama budget also includes $1 trillion in tax increases on the upper 5% of income earners, mostly tax rate increases. But the top 5% of income earners already pays 60% of all income taxes. #8. The Obama budget projects that revenues from the corporate income tax will more than double in 3 years, increasing, in fact, by more than 124%. #9. Infiltration: how to deal with potential agents provocateurs from the left:
It’s not time to back down, it’s time to prepare for such an infiltration. “ACORN and the Huffington Post are planning to infiltrate the Tea Parties…trying to make the Tea Party movement seem to be what it’s not, painting libertarians as racists or similar nonsense, well, that deserves to be exposed and countered vigorously. So my recommendation to Tea Party demonstrators…Keep your eye out for the most extreme characters and then ask yourself: Is that real? Is that person who he or she says he is? Cui bono, who profits, here from what they are saying or doing? Draw your conclusions (carefully!) and then act accordingly and completely within the law.”

Any who advocate, in general, any act of violence or other active civil disobedience will be told (not asked–TOLD!) to leave our reserved area. Any who advocate, in specific, any act of violence will be reported to the Police or to the US Secret Service, as appropriate. Our Founders gave us the Bill of Rights and we will use them. Talk of “battles” must be reserved to the context of “Battle of the Flowers” and “political battles.” We will act in a peaceful, lawful manner, period. PERIOD. We will not use profanity in our speeches, on our signs, or to any members of the press who might be present. While we will raise our voices with spirit when appropriate, we will deport ourselves in general with decorum that is respectful of the seriousness of the occasion.

Should we see someone in need, whether they need a place to sit, medical attention, or just a friendly smile, we will ensure their needs are met in the best tradition of the American spirit. Even though there were those warning against the precarious nature of the enterprise, Barney Frank — whose committee oversees Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — kept resisting reforms and besmirching those voicing concerns.”

Most government spending is financed by taxes, and high tax rates reduce incentives to work, save, and invest —resulting in a less motivated workforce as well as less business investment in new capital and technology. 2. Incentives.
Social spending often reduces incentives for productivity by subsidizing leisure and unemployment. 3. Displacement.
Every dollar spent by politicians means one dollar less to be allocated based on market forces within the more productive private sector….politicians seize that money and earmark it for favored organizations with little regard for improvements to economic efficiency; 4. Inefficiencies.
Government provision of housing, education, and postal operations are often much less efficient than the private sector. Government also distorts existing health care and education markets by promoting third-party payers, resulting in over-consumption and insensitivity to prices and outcomes. Another example of inefficiency is when politicians earmark highway money for wasteful pork projects rather than expanding highway capacity where it is most needed.

“…the Tea Party held in downtown Miami earlier today. Right in front of the Dade County Courthouse, an estimated crowd of about 200-250 people gathered on both sides of Flagler Street for a couple of hours between Noon and 2 PM. Young and old, English and Spanish, but one thing in common was a concern for the massive spending and general direction our country is headed toward. Lots of signs and flags, cars honking their horns, but a very respectful and courteous crowd with nary an offensive sign or display in sight.
The organizer of the event, Marcos Sendon, did a great job considering this was a pure grassroots effort. As far as I could tell, only NBC 6/Telemundo brought out a cameraman to tape the event.”
