Carlos Gimenez’s PRO-GLOBAL WARMING Votes (2011 Miami-Dade Mayoral Candidate)

Posted by FactReal on June 28, 2011

A Fool or a Political Panderer
There is plenty of information demonstrating that man-made global warming is a hoax. The theory of global warming is pushed by leftists to control our lives through more onerous taxes and futile regulations.

Yet Gimenez insisted in furthering this manipulative and failed agenda. He sponsored these resolutions when he was Miami-Dade County Commissioner:
To join the Chicago Climate Exchange to reduce greenhouse gas (PDF), 2/5/2007
To seek grants for ethanol fleet vehicles to encourage demand for alternative fuels (PDF), 2/1/2007
To give tax exemption for solar energy (PDF), 1/2/2007
To create Climate Change Advisory Task Force, 4/13/2006
To support development of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, 3/30/2006

Carlos GIMENEZ Proposed Pay Raises for Commissioners (2011 Miami-Dade Mayoral Candidate)

Posted by FactReal on June 28, 2011

Gimenez Sponsored Legislation to Benefit Commissioners
Commissioners are constantly whining that they make only $6,000 a year, but they fail to mention that they already get $55,388 in benefits + perks + car allowance + $1 million budget at their discretion plus the excellent pensions they will receive for life…paid mostly by taxpayers.

Voters want to limit the time these politicians “serve” as County Commissioners. Gimenez, seeing the opportunity for a curveball, has proposed 8-year term limits with the condition to increase the Commissioners’ salary. Voters see this as a manipulation and have rejected it every time it is on the ballot.

Gimenez sponsored resolutions seeking to raise Commissioners’ salary:
- To raise commissioners’ salaries (PDF) in 10/29/2010
- To raise commissioners’ salaries, 7/18/2008
- To raise commissioners’ salary (PDF), 11/6/2007

On his own qualifying documents for mayoral candidate, Gimenez indicates that he received a yearly income of $43,250 for his work as Miami-Dade County Commissioner plus a yearly pension of $126,810 for his work with the City of Miami’s Fire Department – 96% of it is and will be paid by taxpayers for the rest of Gimenez’s live.

Carlos Gimenez Oversaw the Failed Transit System (2011 Miami-Dade Mayoral Candidate)

Posted by FactReal on June 27, 2011

Carlos Gimenez was Leader of Powerful Committee which Oversaw Transit
Gimenez was one of the government bureaucrats responsible for the failed Miami-Dade transit system, its scandals, wastes and the half penny tax sham. Gimenez was, for example, a top leader of the committee responsible for the transit system — the system that was going to be modernized by the 2002 half-cent sales tax. Remember? They promised new bus lines and 90-miles of new Metrorail extensions if only voters approved the half cent sales tax.

As of October 2010, the County had collected almost $1.4 billion in transit surtax, but most was spent on bloated salaries, excessive staff and maintenance of existing operations. The cities[1] and the county have misspent these tax dollars.[2] The County Commissioners did not stop it.

Exhibit A – Gimenez was the Vice-Chair of the Regional Transportation Committee
This committee is in charged of overseeing the transportation system like the Transit Dept.
Here are the mission and members of that committee [3]

Exhibit B – Gimenez was Chair of the Regional Transportation Committee
The meeting agenda [4] for January 13, 2005, indicates that Gimenez was the committee chairman on that meeting where they talked/approved:
● The transit system in Miami-Dade like the rail corridors (item 1E1)
● Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) projects (items 1E3, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D)
● Amendment to the People’s Transportation Plan (the 1/2 penny transit project) to include a surtax (item 1F1).
● The Miami Int’l Airport (item 2B)
● Acquisition of land for transit (item 3E, 3I)
etc., etc.
