| DEATH OF SAEED AL-SHIHRI Deputy leader of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula AP reported: “Yemeni officials say a missile believed to have been fired by a U.S. operated drone on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 has killed al-Qaida’s No. 2 leader in Yemen along with five others traveling with him in one car. Al-Qaida’s Yemen branch is seen as the world’s most active, planning and carrying out attacks against targets in and outside U.S. territory.” |

| DEATH OF ABU YAHYA AL-LIBI Group’s second-in-command: AP reported: “Abu Yahya al-Libi whose death was confirmed by al-Qaida chief Ayman Al-Zawahri in a video posted late Monday, Sept. 10, 2011. Al-Libi…was killed in a U.S. drone strike in northwest Pakistan in June…The killing of al-Libi, who was Libyan by birth, was the biggest setback to al-Qaida since the death of Osama bin Laden. Al-Zawahri also urged Libyans…to attack Americans to avenge the late militant’s death, saying his “blood is calling, urging and inciting you to fight and kill the Crusaders.”" |
