Obama & Democrats in 2005: 51 Vote ‘Nuclear Option’ Is Arrogant Power Grab Against the Founders’ Intent In 2005, Bush and Republicans wanted to use a 51 simple majority to avoid filibusters (a.k.a. “The Nuclear Option”)…but Obama and Democrats fought against it. Now Obama and Democrats love “The Nuclear Option” and plan to use it to pass Obamacare.
