DRAFT TRANSLATION:

REPORTER: One who has not announced his candidacy but HAS NOT RULED IT OUT is former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez.

MARTINEZ: I’d have to analyze it, but right now I think it’s too early for me to make a decision. I’ve been saying that we needed to wait for this to pass; that we had to wait and see what the public had to say and then see what is the convenient thing to do. I imagine that all the commissioners are very afraid, because any of them can also be removed from office now or in the next elections.

FLASHBACK 1999: Raul Martinez, then-Mayor of Hialeah, Punched Young Protester
Video notes: On June 30, 1999, then-Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez started an actual brawl. During a traffic-blocking protest, the burly mayor pummeled slender young Cuban, Ernesto Mirabal. Raul Martinez landed a left and at least five right uppercuts as police officers also jumped Mirabal instead of trying to stop Martinez.
