SHORT BIOGRAPHY
A quick view of this candidate’s experience, campaign finance, donations, etc.
ROOSEVELT BRADLEY
● Former Miami-Dade Transit director
Bradley wants to be the next mayor of Miami-Dade County, but he represents what is wrong with county government.

Oversaw the failed half-penny sales tax for Miami-Dade Transit
In 2002, Roosevelt Bradley was instrumental in convincing Miamians to vote for the “People’s Transportation Plan,” the infamous half-penny sales tax to “bring Miami-Dade Transit into the 21st century if voters approved a long-sought sales tax.” Bradley and other local politicians (i.e., Democrat then-Mayor Alex Penelas) promised “New Money for New Projects.” They promised to use the new transit-tax revenues to build new miles of bus service and 90-miles of new Metrorail lines. Believing their promises, voters agreed to pass the salex tax increase in November of 2002. In 2003, Roosevelt Bradley was promoted to director of Miami-Dade Transit (MDT).

After eight years, it is clear the half-penny sales tax was a sham. There is very little to show for all the money that government bureaucrats have been spent. As of October 2010, the county has collected $1.4 billion in transit surtax, but most has been spent on ballooning salaries, maintenance of existing operations, and government jobs to labor unions, friends and relatives.

Bradley was fired in 2007 for nepotism, irregular hiring practices, overtime costs, and mismanagement:
Used Taxmoney to Give Jobs To Friends & Relatives as Transit Director

Bradley has denied these charges, but there was more. Bradley became a lobbyist and participated in unethical and questionable activities with then-Commissioner Dorrin Rolle:
Is a Lobbyist with Ethical Problems
