|After eight years, it is clear the half-penny sales tax was a sham. There is very little to show for all the money that government bureaucrats have been spent. As of October 2010, the county has collected $1.4 billion in transit surtax, but most has been spent on ballooning salaries, maintenance of existing operations, and government jobs to labor unions, friends and relatives.
