JULIO ROBAINA Using Obama’s Stimulus to Finance Projects (Miami-Dade Mayoral Candidate)

|WOULD A FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE PERSON ACCEPT OBAMA’S STIMULUS PACKAGE?
Remember Obama’s $789 billion so-called stimulus* of 2009? It angered most Americans because they knew the “stimulus” would allow government to continue their excessive spending and borrowing – thus, prolonging the economic recession and guaranteeing unprecedented debt to future generations. It was clear that the purported goal of stimulating the economy and creating jobs would not be possible by spending what we didn’t have. Obama’s “stimulus” led to the start of the famous Tea Party protests.
|Remember how then-Governor Charlie Crist angered many Floridians when he accepted Obama’s “stimulus”? That became Crist’s albatross during his unsuccessful 2010 campaign for the U.S. Senate.
Well, Miami-Dade mayoral candidate and Hialeah mayor Julio Robaina has been using millions of dollars from the Obama “stimulus” to finance projects in Hialeah.
|Recovery.gov, the Obama administration’s website which tracks how they distribute the “stimulus,” shows that the City of Hialeah has received millions of dollars from the Obama “stimulus” package:

|VERY FEW JOBS CREATED
The goal of the Obama stimulus was to create jobs but very few jobs have been created despite the millions of dollars awarded. For example, the grant from the Department of Energy for $1,979,200 was used by Mayor Robaina to buy 4 hybrid garbage trucks. Only 43 jobs for 3 months were created:
|During the last quarter of 2009, they reported 40 jobs for “the automotive industry and suppliers” while Hialeah “was awaiting delivery” of the 4 hybrid recycling trucks. During the first quarter of this year, they reported 3 jobs for “individuals directly associated with the creation of the energy efficiency plan.” So, almost $2 million created 43 jobs for ONLY 3 months. That is equivalent to approx. 11 employees working for a year with a salary of $184,111 each!! Don’t you think the private sector would have created those jobs for less money and without adding to the national debt?|
|DETAILS OF THE $1.9 MILLION GRANT
According to the Dept. of Energy, the $1.9 million grant was awarded on 12/03/2009 to the City of Hialeah with monies from the Obama stimulus plan (a.k.a. Recovery Act):
The $1,979,200 grant was an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG) for:
|The Dept. of Energy makes it clear that this EECBG grant is to create jobs and to “save the planet” from “global warming”:
“The Block Grants are a major investment in energy solutions that will strengthen America’s economy and create jobs at the local level,” said Secretary of Energy Steven Chu.”
“The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, funded for the first time by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) of 2009, represents a Presidential priority to deploy the cheapest, cleanest, and most reliable energy technologies we have—energy efficiency and conservation—across the country…Through formula and competitive grants, the Program empowers local communities to make strategic investments to meet the nation’s long-term goals for energy independence and leadership on climate change.”
For climate change? Is that the emergency? Does Robaina know that global warming is a hoax? Didn’t he hear about the ClimateGate scandal where emails revealed how leading global warming scientists were manipulating climate data to push their leftist agenda? It is amazing that after so much evidence against global warming alarmism so many politicians choose to continue with their green agenda.
Robaina spent $2 million on garbage trucks…during a severe recession! All those millions of dollars from taxpayer money spent for few jobs. Yes, from taxpayer money. Politicians think they are being smart by using the “government’s money.” But it is not the government’s – it is OUR money. The grants are distributed by the federal government but all those grants are financed by the taxpayer money. In the end, taxpayers (and their grandkids) will be paying for the politicians’ excesses.
