Clinton: YouTube Video is Evidence; a Facebook Post is Not (Video)

Posted by FactReal on October 24, 2012

Yesterday, we learned that 2 hours into the Libya consulate attack, an email from the State Department said that a group linked to Al-Qaeda was claiming responsibility on Facebook and Twitter and was calling for an attack on the Tripoli Embassy.

Now, Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration want us to disregard that terror link, because it was posted on social media. Isn’t this the same administration that for weeks blamed an amateurish video posted on YouTube and even found an excuse to put the videomaker in jail?

A condescending Hillary Clinton said today in response to yesterday’s email release: “Posting something on Facebook is not in and of itself evidence.”

CLINTON (Oct. 24, 2012): Now finally, on Benghazi, look, I’ve said it and I’ll say it one more time. No one wants to find out what happened more than I do. We are holding ourselves accountable to the American people, because not only they, but our brave diplomats and development experts serving in dangerous places around the world, deserve no less. The independent Accountability Review Board is already hard at work looking at everything – not cherry-picking one story here or one document there – but looking at everything, which I highly recommend as the appropriate approach to something as complex as an attack like this.

Posting something on Facebook is not in and of itself evidence, and I think it just underscores how fluid the reporting was at the time and continued for some time to be. What I keep in mind is that four brave Americans were killed, and we will find out what happened, we will take whatever measures are necessary to fix anything that needs to be fixed, and we will bring those to justice who committed these murders. And I think that that is what we have said, that is what we are doing, and I’m very confident that we will achieve those goals.

GatewayPundit writes:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton held a press conference this morning and addressed the Benghazi Consulate attack and cover-up. The Secretary of State would not call the massacre a terrorist attack despite the fact that top officials at the State Department knew a Libyan terror group took credit for the attack two hours after the consulate was penetrated on 9-11.

EMAIL ON SEPT. 11, 2012, AT 6:07 PM ET
While the Islamic terror attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was unfolding, the State Department sent this email to the White House and other government and intelligence agencies:

Subject: Update 2: Ansar al-Sharia Claims Responsibility for Benghazi Attack (SBU)

Categories: Yellow Category

(SBU) Embassy Tripoli reports the group claimed responsibility on Facebook and Twitter and has called for an attack on Embassy Tripoli.

Read the other emails: here and here.

If the Obama administration had too much or too little data about the Libya terror attack, they should have said so, instead of manufacturing a scapegoat — an obscure YouTube video.

Of course, in their liberal mind blaming the YouTube video was their perfect silver bullet.
The video excuse allowed them to:
– Subversively criticize and weaken our freedom of speech,
– Keep the lie that Obama had Al-Qaeda on the run,
– Protect the mirage that Obama’s Arab Spring was a success and the world loved us,
– Blame America and feed the “white guilt” syndrome,
– Give license to Islamists for their violence and intolerance, and
– Slowly submit Americans to Islamic supremacy.
