Flashback: Susan Rice on 5 Sunday Shows Blaming Benghazi Attack on a YouTube Video

Posted by FactReal on April 3, 2017

Susan Rice, then Obama’s Ambassador to the United Nations, went on five separate Sunday television news shows on September 16, 2012, and falsely claimed that the Islamic Benghazi attack was not pre-planned but a “spontaneous” reaction to a Mohammed YouTube video, which at the time was mostly obscure and unwatched.

On September 11, 2012, Islamic terrorists attacked the American compound in Benghazi, Libya. Four Americans were killed, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.

After the attack, Susan Rice and the Obama administration went out of their way to give the Islamic terrorists an excuse for the attack. The pretext: an obscure, low-budget YouTube video about Mohammed.

9/16/2012 TRANSCRIPTS & VIDEO LINKS:
Here is Susan Rice on 5 Sunday TV shows blaming the obscure YouTube video for the Islamic attack on our consulate in Benghazi.
‘Fox News Sunday’ with Chris Wallace

WALLACE: Joining us now our ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice. Ambassador, welcome back to “Fox News Sunday.”

AMB. SUSAN RICE, U.S. AMBASSADOR TO THE UNITED NATIONS: Thank you.

WALLACE: This week, there have been anti-American protests in two dozen countries across the Islamic world. The White House says it has nothing to do with the president’s policies.

Let’s watch.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

JAY CARNEY, WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY: This is not a case of protests directed at the United States writ large or at U.S. policy. This is in response to a video that is offensive.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

WALLACE: You don’t really believe that?

RICE: Chris, absolutely I believe that. In fact, it is the case. We had the evolution of the Arab spring over the last many months. But what sparked the recent violence was the airing on the Internet of a very hateful very offensive video that has offended many people around the world.

[…]

RICE: …Obviously, the last couple of days have been some what better. But we are vigilant and we are of the view that is not an expression of hospitality in the broadest sense towards the United States or U.S. policy. It’s approximately a reaction to this video and it’s a hateful video that had nothing to do with the United States and which we find disgusting and reprehensible.

CBS’s Sunday Show ‘Face the Nation’ with Bob Schieffer

SUSAN RICE: …So we’ll want to see the results of that investigation to draw any definitive conclusions. But based on the best information we have to date, what our assessment is as of the present is in fact what began spontaneously in Benghazi as a reaction to what had transpired some hours earlier in Cairo where, of course, as you know, there was a violent protest outside of our embassy–

BOB SCHIEFFER: Mm-Hm.

SUSAN RICE: –sparked by this hateful video. But soon after that spontaneous protest began outside of our consulate in Benghazi …

ABC’s ‘This Week’ with Jake Tapper

RICE: Well, Jake, first of all, it’s important to know that there’s an FBI investigation that has begun and will take some time to be completed. That will tell us with certainty what transpired.

But our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous — not a premeditated — response to what had transpired in Cairo. In Cairo, as you know, a few hours earlier, there was a violent protest that was undertaken in reaction to this very offensive video that was disseminated.

[…]

RICE: It’s actually the opposite. First of all, let’s be clear about what transpired here. What happened this week in Cairo, in Benghazi, in many other parts of the region…

TAPPER: Tunisia, Khartoum…

RICE: … was a result — a direct result of a heinous and offensive video that was widely disseminated, that the U.S. government had nothing to do with, which we have made clear is reprehensible and disgusting. We have also been very clear in saying that there is no excuse for violence, there is — that we have condemned it in the strongest possible terms.

NBC’s ‘Meet the Press’ with David Gregory

MS. RICE: Well, David, we can’t predict with any certainty. But let’s remember what has transpired over the last several days. This is a response to a hateful and offensive video that was widely disseminated throughout the Arab and Muslim world. Obviously, our view is that there is absolutely no excuse for violence and that– what has happened is condemnable, but this is a– a spontaneous reaction to a video

CNN’s ‘State of the Union’ with Candy Crowley

RICE: Well, Candy, first of all, let’s recall what has happened in the last several days. There was a hateful video that was disseminated on the internet. It had nothing to do with the United States government and it’s one that we find disgusting and reprehensible. It’s been offensive to many, many people around the world.

That sparked violence in various parts of the world, including violence directed against western facilities including our embassies and consulates. That violence is absolutely unacceptable, it’s not a response that one can ever condone when it comes to such a video. And we have been working very closely and, indeed, effectively with the governments in the region and around the world to secure our personnel, secure our embassy, condemn the violent response to this video.

SUSAN RICE: NO REGRETS
Of course, Susan Rice has no regrets for lying to America on Benghazi:

THE VIDEO-MAKER NOW HOMELESS:
Blamed for Benghazi: Filmmaker jailed after attack now lives in poverty, fear

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the Coptic Christian whose short video “The Innocence of Muslims” was initially faulted for sparking the Sept. 11, 2012 terror attack at U.S. diplomatic compounds in Libya, is now living in a homeless shelter run by First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park, Calif. He has served time in prison, been shamed publicly by the White House and threatened with death.

Obama Official, Susan Rice, behind Unmasking Identities of Trump Team?

Posted by FactReal on April 3, 2017

[Breaking News (We don’t know if this is fake news.) UPDATE 4/5/2017: Susan Rice accepts participation in the unmasking of U.S. citizens in the course of surveillance operations.]

Eli Lake at Bloomberg News reported today that Susan Rice, Obama National Security Adviser, might be behind the scandal of revealing the names of Trump associates caught in surveillance.

Remember Susan Rice? She went on several TV programs to push the lie that an internet video provoked the Islamic attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012.
SusanRiceObamaNSA-unmaskingTrump

Eli Lakes’s article: “Top Obama Adviser Sought Names of Trump Associates in Intel”:[1]

White House lawyers last month learned that the former national security adviser Susan Rice requested the identities of U.S. persons in raw intelligence reports on dozens of occasions that connect to the Donald Trump transition and campaign, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

The pattern of Rice’s requests was discovered in a National Security Council review of the government’s policy on “unmasking” the identities of individuals in the U.S. who are not targets of electronic eavesdropping, but whose communications are collected incidentally. Normally those names are redacted from summaries of monitored conversations and appear in reports as something like “U.S. Person One.”

The National Security Council’s senior director for intelligence, Ezra Cohen-Watnick, was conducting the review … In February Cohen-Watnick discovered Rice’s multiple requests to unmask U.S. persons in intelligence reports that related to Trump transition activities. He brought this to the attention of the White House General Counsel’s office, who reviewed more of Rice’s requests and instructed him to end his own research into the unmasking policy.

[…]

The news about Rice also sheds light on the strange behavior of Nunes in the last two weeks. It emerged last week that he traveled to the White House last month, the night before he made an explosive allegation about Trump transition officials caught up in incidental surveillance. At the time he said he needed to go to the White House because the reports were only on a database for the executive branch. It now appears that he needed to view computer systems within the National Security Council that would include the logs of Rice’s requests to unmask U.S. persons.

UPDATE:
FoxNews[2] reported this last Friday without naming Susan Rice:

The U.S. intelligence official who “unmasked,” or exposed, the names of multiple private citizens affiliated with the Trump team is someone “very well known, very high up, very senior in the intelligence world,” a source told Fox News on Friday. […]

For a private citizen to be “unmasked,” or named, in an intelligence report is extremely rare. Typically, the American is a suspect in a crime, is in danger or has to be named to explain the context of the report.

“The main issue in this case, is not only the unmasking of these names of private citizens, but the spreading of these names for political purposes that have nothing to do with national security or an investigation into Russia’s interference in the U.S. election,” a congressional source close to the investigation told Fox News.

The unmasking of Americans whose communications apparently were caught up in surveillance under the Obama administration is a key part of an investigation being led by Nunes, who has come under fire from Democrats for focusing on that aspect.

Nunes has known about the unmasking controversy since January, when two sources in the intelligence community approached him. […]

This was long before Trump sent out his now-infamous March 4 tweets claiming then-President Barack Obama “wiretapped” Trump Tower during the 2016 election.

Nunes had asked intelligence agencies to see the reports in question, but was stonewalled.

He eventually was able to view them, but there was only one safe place to see the documents without compromising the sources’ identities — the old executive office building on White House grounds, which has a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) required to view classified or top secret reports. The White House did not tell Nunes about the existence of the intelligence reports, but did help him gain access to the documents at his request, the source said. […]

“Unmasking is not unprecedented, but unmasking for political purposes … specifically of Trump transition team members … is highly suspect and questionable,” an intelligence source told Fox News. “Opposition by some in the intelligence agencies who were very connected to the Obama and Clinton teams was strong. After Trump was elected, they decided they were going to ruin his presidency by picking them off one by one.”

2016 Farkas: Trump and Putin – Two Liars Separated at Birth

Posted by FactReal on April 3, 2017

On April 3, 2016, Evelyn Farkas wrote in Politico an article entitled: “Trump and Putin: Two Liars Separated at Birth? No wonder they seem to like each other; they are akin in their abuse of the truth.

HIGHLIGHTS OF FARKAS’ ARTICLE:
– Farkas not only likens Trump to Putin, but claims “among the many dangers of Donald Trump,” he’ll make America “great” fraudulently just like Putin in Russia. [Earth to Farkas: Putin is a dictator who has murdered people, bombed civilians, invaded countries, etc.]
– She believes that with Trump we’d be “drifting toward a situation where we resemble Putin’s Russia.”
– “Trump, in his own way, is seeking to turn the United States into a post-factual society analogous to Putin’s Russia.”
– “Where could it end, if Trump does gain the presidency? In Putin’s case the people’s indifference to the truth has allowed him to secure and retain power, to run” Russia as a “Mafia-style capitalist state”, wrote Farkas.
– Farkas increases her attack on Trump: “In Trump’s case, he is fostering and exploiting indifference toward truth in the service of fear, hatred and a mishmash of poor foreign and domestic policy ideas — including potentially repudiating our alliances in Europe and Asia, undoing decades of free trade reform and trying to force Mexico to pay for an expensive, likely ineffective North American Berlin Wall.” [!!!]

PART OF FARKAS’ ARTICLE:

Trump and Putin: Two Liars Separated at Birth?
No wonder they seem to like each other; they are akin in their abuse of the truth.

By EVELYN FARKAS | April 03, 2016

Among the many dangers of Donald Trump is that he will make the United States “great” again in exactly the way that the GOP front-runner’s one-time admirer, Vladimir Putin, claims he is making Russia “great” again.

In other words, fraudulently.

In Russia today, thanks to Putin, spectacle, theater and lying pervade the media, confuse the discourse and have turned the viewing public into an electorate that no longer seems to care about the truth. […]

All this serves Putin’s purpose of imposing whatever truth he pleases…”This is not merely an ‘information war,’ in other words, but a ‘war on information,’” [journalist] Pomerantsev said in April 2014. “If the very possibility of rational argument is submerged in a fog of uncertainty, there are no grounds for debate. Sooner or later, the public will give up trying to understand what happened, or even bothering to listen.” This statement illuminates the deeper danger Trump poses to democracy in America today.

Trump, in his own way, is seeking to turn the United States into a post-factual society analogous to Putin’s Russia. He makes claims that are false, doubles down on them when challenged and seems to care not a whit for video or documentary evidence that proves him wrong. He says over and over that America is “losing” and he can make it “win” without substantiating either claim. It’s not that the media don’t challenge him a lot, but simultaneously they give saturation coverage to everything he says and they don’t seem able to keep up with the torrent of nonsense issuing from his mouth.

Thus, as in Russia, Trump’s lying is enabling and feeding an indifference to the truth. […] As with Putin in Russia, his many misrepresentations are enabling and feeding an indifference to the truth in this country.

Where could it end, if Trump does gain the presidency? In Putin’s case the people’s indifference to the truth has allowed him to secure and retain power, to run the Russian Federation as an autocratic, Mafia-style capitalist state, to pursue a neo-imperial foreign policy for its own sake and to keep him in power, and reportedly to amass vast fortunes for his friends that he may secretly benefit from. […]

In Trump’s case, he is fostering and exploiting indifference toward truth in the service of fear, hatred and a mishmash of poor foreign and domestic policy ideas — including potentially repudiating our alliances in Europe and Asia, undoing decades of free trade reform and trying to force Mexico to pay for an expensive, likely ineffective North American Berlin Wall. […]

How then are we drifting toward a situation where we resemble Putin’s Russia?

2016 Evelyn Farkas wrote: Intel Agencies Must Release Trump Info before Inauguration

Posted by FactReal on April 2, 2017

In December 2016, Evelyn Farkas, Obama’s Pentagon expert on Russia, wrote an article for Politico urging the intelligence community to release more information on the alleged Trump-Russia connection before Trump’s Inauguration.

This is the same Evelyn Farkas, who confessed March 2 on MSNBC how she and others collected and disseminated intelligence on Trump’s team.

HIGHLIGHTS OF FARKAS’ ARTICLE:
– “Before the president-elect takes the oath, the American people deserve to know what the intelligence community knows about his business history and entanglements with Russians and Russia,” Farkas wrote.
– “The information needs to be made public,” she urged the intel agencies, “before January 20,” because the “American public doesn’t have access to the data the intelligence community — all 16 agencies combined — have on the Russian government, its banks and oligarchs, and their relationships with Trump’s campaign, his business ventures, and the president-elect himself.”
– She claimed that the Trump team “would be motivated to eliminate means of collection and analysis.”
– “The intelligence community and policy officials should also begin disclosing what they know about whether Trump’s associates have been in contact with Russian officials, and what they’ve been discussing,” Farkas wrote.
– Farkas included of a list of questions as a roadmap of what the intelligence community had to release before Trump took oath:
— What we don’t know is how much Russian money is involved, and what Russian money.
— How did Trump get out of debt?
— To whom does he owe money?
— Who provides the collateral for his loans?
— Is he beholden to Russian oligarchs and banks who are under the thumb of the Kremlin and Russian security services?
— What did Russia do to interfere in U.S. elections?
— Did any American citizens collude with Russia to assist in the Kremlin’s efforts to interfere in elections? If so how, and were Trump associates, or Trump himself, aware?
— Have Russians given or loaned Trump and/or his businesses money, or provided collateral or other financial assistance to him?

COINCIDENCE? The media published these articles afterwards:
1/10/2017, CNN/Buzzfeed: Released a 35-page “dossier” full of unsubstantiated dirt on Trump (which Al Franken used the same day against Jeff Session during his confirmation hearing.

1/19/2017, The New York Times: “Wiretapped Data Used in Inquiry of Trump Aides” – Examining Russian Ties – Business Dealings of Campaign Advisers Are Investigated.

PART OF FARKAS’ ARTICLE IN POLITICO: [Emphasis added]

2016-12-12 EvelynFargasUrgesIntelligenceToDiscloseTrumpRussia
Here’s What America Needs to Know About Trump and Russia
My time as the Pentagon’s Russia-watcher suggests we need much more disclosure, and soon.

By EVELYN FARKAS December 12, 2016

We are only beginning to process the fact that a foreign country interfered with American democratic elections. But when it comes to Russia and its relationship with Donald Trump, the election hacking may be only the tip of the iceberg. The American public doesn’t have access to the data the intelligence community — all 16 agencies combined — have on the Russian government, its banks and oligarchs, and their relationships with Trump’s campaign, his business ventures, and the president-elect himself. That must change before January 20. The information needs to be made public. […]

Given Russia’s capabilities and its recent patterns, it is not at all far-fetched to ask whether Trump is indeed the “puppet” Secretary Clinton mockingly named him in the second presidential debate. Is he financially and politically beholden to Russians close to the government and to the Kremlin itself? If so, is he prepared to accommodate Putin’s interests? […]

Today, we already have enough clues and too much undisclosed information to warrant worry about the puppet scenario. There are signs the Trump campaign was involved in coordinating this release of hacked information — then-adviser Carter Page’s trips and meetings in Moscow, and Russian statements that they were in touch with the campaign. And of course, Trump publicly called on the Russian government to continue hacking Hillary Clinton’s computers during a televised campaign appearance. His campaign dismissed it as a joke; it’s not clear everyone did. […]

We know, per Donald Trump Jr., that Russia makes up a significant amount of the family business. What we don’t know is how much Russian money is involved, and what Russian money. How did Trump get out of debt? To whom does he owe money? Who provides the collateral for his loans? Is he beholden to Russian oligarchs and banks who are under the thumb of the Kremlin and Russian security services? […]

…So before we even get to interagency debates on Russia, before the president-elect takes the oath, the American people deserve to know what the intelligence community knows about his business history and entanglements with Russians and Russia.

The intelligence community, especially the CIA, will be loath to reveal too much lest their sources and methods are compromised. But if our worst fears are realized, Trump has knowingly benefited from Kremlin help, but those means may be jeopardized by the next administration, anyway. His team would be motivated to eliminate means of collection and analysis and of informing others in the executive branch or Congress. As the public and legislators press for more clarity, there are a handful of specific questions they need to focus on:

1) What did Russia do to interfere in U.S. elections?

2) Did any American citizens collude with Russia to assist in the Kremlin’s efforts to interfere in elections? If so how, and were Trump associates, or Trump himself, aware?

3) Have Russians given or loaned Trump and/or his businesses money, or provided collateral or other financial assistance to him?

If the answers yield further evidence that the president-elect is indebted to the Russian government or individuals with Kremlin ties, the intelligence community and policy officials should also begin disclosing what they know about whether Trump’s associates have been in contact with Russian officials, and what they’ve been discussing.

There are U.S. government officials who know the answers to these questions; the most powerful among them, with the ability to declassify intelligence, will leave when power is transferred to Trump. It is bad enough that Trump has been labeled the biggest “Pinocchio” of all the presidential candidates by the fact-checkers at The Washington Post. But it would be far worse if his Geppetto, the man holding his strings, was Vladimir Putin—and if the people who were in a position to warn Americans did not do so.

Evelyn Farkas, Obama’s Official, Urged Others to Collect Intel on Trump (video)

Posted by FactReal on March 30, 2017

Evelyn Farkas, Obama’s Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, confessed March 2 to MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski how she and others collected and disseminated intelligence on Trump’s team and their alleged ties with Russia.

Here is a transcript:

BRZEZINSKI: Evelyn Farkas, the other big story of the day.

You actually knew about this attempt to get and preserve information and for transparency were doing some work yourself. Tell us about it.

FARKAS: I was urging my former colleagues and — and frankly speaking — the people on the Hill, it was more actually aimed at telling the Hill people, get as much information as you can, get as much intelligence as you can, before President Obama leaves the administration. Because I had a fear that somehow that information would disappear with the senior [Obama] people who left so it would be hidden away in the bureaucracy, um, that the Trump folks – if they found out how we knew what we knew about their — the staff –the Trump staff dealing with Russians – that they would try to compromise those sources and methods, meaning we would no longer have access to that intelligence.

So I became very worried because not enough was coming out into the open and I knew that there was more. We have very good intelligence on Russia. So then I had talked to some of my former colleagues and I knew that they were trying to also help get information to the Hill.

BRZEZINSKI: A lot going on today…

FARKAS: Yeah. That’s why you have the leaking…

(CROSSTALK)

BRZEZINSKI: …Mark…Exactly.

FARKAS: …people are worried.
